What quote sources would you like?

The default quote source that comes with the widget is Yahoo! Finance. If you are a paying member of Yahoo! Finance you will see semi real-time quotes (2 minute delayed) in the Spoken Quotes widget. I just want to know what other quote sources people are interested in. I am willing to code for the most popular sources so that people may be able to get real-time or semi real-time quotes from the source of which they are members. This could be an online broker, or some other source that you get real-time quotes from. Please respond to this topic to let me know where I should focus my development efforts.

Real time data feed

The popular online brokerage, MBTrading, provides real times quotes for subscribers. Download details are provided on request. Linking to them would add significantly to your customer base.

Do you know if you need to

Do you know if you need to signup with an account in order to use their SDK? Also I see that their SDK uses COM objects which means if I were to use it their quote source would only support windows PCs.

2 Minute Quote

How do you tell Spoken Quotes that you're a yahoo finance member? Does it look for a login cookie of some type? I'm not a paying member of yahoo finance yet, but I would definately be interested if the price was right and the tool could utilize it.

re: 2 Minute Quote

No it does not look for a login cookie. It actually attempts to retrieve a specific Yahoo finance page which contains different information based on whether you're logged in and subscribe to Yahoo Finance. If it finds the string on that page then it knows you are subscribed and logged in, otherwise it knows you'll be retrieving delayed quotes.

MSN MoneyCentral has free real time quotes

As far as I know, MSN MoneyCentral and MarketWatch are the only major websites that continue to provide free real time quotes for US equities - no clue as to how to download them outside their own user interfaces. I'll consider downloading this useful widget when it has a track record.

Thanks for the comment. I'll

Thanks for the comment. I'll take a look at possible ways of getting data from MSN MoneyCentral and the MarketWatch feeds.

When you say "when it has a track record", what do you mean? Are you talking about the ability to track your entered portfolio transactions, or just a track record for the widget in general?
